One Piece Personality Types MBTI

One Piece may be Netflix's most successful attempt at a live-action adaptation of anime yet. Unlike previous attempts, the new One Piece series is able to capture core elements like solid world-building and action sequences that never feel contrived.

We were impressed with the production design which were fantastical but always felt lived in. The pacing of the story held up with each episode full of momentum. And of course, One Piece's colorful characters got a welcome update and, in our opinion, a fitting cast.

So, let's find out the changes in personality of our favorite One Piece characters and their MTBI placements. Which one are you?

Zoro - ISTP

Silent, stoic, but ultimately a big softie: Roronoa Zoro is ISTP, the virtuoso. At the beginning of the series, we meet Zoro when he is the most individualistic. Zoro relies on his own skills and pursues his own goals without much external input. His natural ability to explore and to learn allows him adapt to many situations. When faced with an opponent, Zoro wastes no time in drawing his sword and seeing what works.

Later on, as with many characters who meet Luffy, Zoro becomes inspired by Luffy. Here, we can see that Zoro enjoys lending a hand and sharing his experience. Zoro enjoys friendship as long as they don't interfere with his own principles and his freedom, which Luffy gives in abundance.

Nami - ENTJ

Our cunning navigator, Nami, is definitely a commander - ENTJ. Nami is decisive and a natural-born leader. No matter the challenges, Nami is resourceful and skilled. Give Nami enough time and she can achieve anything. As a leader, Nami keeps the crew focused and on task.

Another trait of ENTJ's is their almost ruthless rationality when dealing with problems. For Nami, this is both a strength and a weakness. It helps Nami commit to her cause and make the necessary sacrifices, such as her own comfort or status to save her village. However, it also leads her to miss the softer sides of the situation. And it can lead her to work until exhaustion as well.

Usopp - ENTP

The lovable scoundrel Usopp is a ENTP. Usopp is quick-witted, bold and creative - at least, when he is telling his tall tales. Knowledgeable, humorous and entertaining, Usopp absolutely lights up when he is able to regail his grand adventures. Usopp loves to delight and surprise his audience with his words.

Despite his bravado, Usopp ultimately knows his practical limits. He often choose the safer route and takes actions to protect himself. These actions make Usopp appear cowardly. But more often than not, at the most crucial moments, Usopp's ability to appear more than he is can inspire him to act with bravery.

Sanji - ESTJ

The charming adaptation of Sanji in the new Netflix series caught many viewers by surprise. Gone were the many sleazy sides of Sanji. Instead, we were treated with a suave and more respectful chef. Although Sanji can display many personality types, it is in this new series that Sanji's ESTJ personality is best demonstrated.

Sanji is steadfast in valuing honesty and dedication. Whether it is with Zeff or the Straw Hats, Sanji is not afraid to show how much he cares. Sanji values community and is willing to make personal sacrifices for his community. In turn, Sanji expects the same dedication from those he relies on.

Koby - ISFJ

Like with Sanji, this Netflix adaptation of Koby has changed a few things. In the new series, Koby has a greater role almost immediately as a character foil to Luffy. Though whether we're talking about the manga or the live-action series, Koby is a solid ISFJ - the defender.

Koby is hardworking and devoted with a deep sense of responsibility and the nuances of justice. He is sensitive and caring even to those who do not treat him in the same way. Koby works hard to reach his own personal standards, which are informed by his own view of the world. He does not blindly accept orders and follows his own moral compass.

Luffy - ENFP

Last, but not at all the least, the one who brought the crew together, Monkey D. Luffy is ENFP. Luffy sees adventure and endless possibility no matter the situation. His carefree attitude and strong optimism helps him on his journey. In addition, Luffy's creativity often manifests in ludicrous and entertaining attacks that, more often than not, save the day.

As seen from the beginning, Luffy does not follow the rules. Instead, Luffy loves to pursue his dream and encourages others to the same, even if this pursuit is against convention, expectation, or convenience. The idealistic ENFP often sees life itself to be an endless pursuit of one's dreams.
